CRAFT CIDER ALFA participated in the contest “XII Salon Internacional de les Sidres de Gala” held by the Asturias XXI Foundation, on the 28th of September and 2nd of October 2022, in Gijón, Asturias.
Contest program
Over the 4 days that the competition took place, the following activities took place:
- Initially the presentation of some ciders from different countries;
- Tastings and showcooking at CIFP Hostelaria e Turismo de Gijon;
- Constitution of the international jury and evaluation of the ciders in the competition;
- Visit to different cider presses;
- And finally, on the last day, the Gala Brunch and the awards ceremony.
Prizes
71 cider houses from 21 countries participated in the competition, with 230 different ciders.
The jury, chaired by the specialist Manuel G. Busto and Marcos Fernandez, appointed by the Asturias XXI Foundation – and, with a representative of each participating cider house.
After evaluation by the jury, 13 Cider Premium grades were awarded in recognition of the best Ciders in each category. With Gold Notes 14 Ciders; With a Silver grade 15 Ciders, and finally with a Bronze grade 28 Ciders.
Award-winning Alfa Craft Cider
Alfa entered the competition with a bottle Cider 0.75 l and its Cider Sparkling Wine In 2022, our Cider Sparkling Wine won a Silver medal in this same contest.
Craft Cider Alfa received the “PREMIUM” grade, being the best in its Semi-Dry Cider category. This distinction demonstrates the high quality of our product.
Craft Cider Alfa is produced in Carrazeda de Ansiães, by producers Duarte Moura and José Reixelo.
This award, consequently, highlights the quality that Portuguese ciders have been developing over the last few years..
Thus, these distinctions reveal the growth potential that the cider market still has in our country.
In conclusion, there is still a lot of work to be done in order to make Portuguese consumers aware of the qualities of this age-old drink.
